Cutting it on a Cricut

1. Export with the Cutting machine profile, not the standard SVG. Design Space rejects editable text, gradients, transparency and pattern fills.
2. In Design Space: Upload → Upload Image → select the SVG → Upload → add to Canvas.
3. Each colour becomes a cut layer; keep one-colour lettering a single flat colour.
4. Zoom to 400% to check path smoothness before cutting.
5. For script, use Weld (or export with Weld on) so joined letters cut as one shape; otherwise the machine cuts every overlap.
6. To draw rather than cut, use the single-line export with a pen tool; an outline SVG makes the pen trace both edges of every stroke.

Silhouette Studio

The free edition cannot import SVG; use the DXF export. Designer Edition and above open SVG via File → Open. Weld joined script as for Cricut.

Laser and CNC

Laser (Glowforge, LightBurn): SVG for cut outlines, single-line for engraved lettering. CNC/CAM (Fusion 360, VCarve, Easel, Carbide Create): use the DXF; paths arrive as LINE entities on layer 0. Single-line matters: an outlined font makes the machine run every stroke twice, doubling job time and over-burning material.
