Start with the capital L: a tall loop that rises to the top and falls into a rounded foot along the baseline. Its tail runs straight into the i, so the pen stays down. The i is a short upstroke to the midline and a downstroke back to the baseline; it runs from the baseline straight into the a. The a is an oval closed at the top, then a downstroke on its right side that exits at the baseline; it runs from the baseline straight into the m. The m is three humps drawn from the baseline, each one retracing the last downstroke, and its exit stroke finishes the word.

When the word is finished, go back and dot the i. A common slip in Liam is adding a fourth hump to m when it follows a letter with a tail, because the entry stroke looks like a hump.
