How to write capital N
- Start at the baseline with a small entry loop and rise to the top line.
- Pull down to the baseline and rise into a second hump.
- Finish the last downstroke with a tail that joins the next letter.
How to write lowercase n
- Start at the baseline and rise into a rounded hump at the midline, then pull down.
- Retrace up into a second hump and pull down to the baseline.
- Exit with a short upstroke to the right.
Common mistakes
- A common slip is making the humps of n pointed, which turns it into u.
- With the capital, learners stop the final stroke short instead of carrying it into the next letter; the tail of N is the join.
Joining n to other letters
The n exits from the baseline with a short upstroke that becomes the entry stroke of the next letter.
- o → nbridge join
