How to write capital C
- Start near the top line with a small loop, then curve up and over to the left.
- Sweep the curve down to the baseline and round to the right.
- Let the end rise slightly, ready to join the next letter.
How to write lowercase c
- Start just below the midline with a tiny hook.
- Curve up and over to the left, then down to the baseline.
- Round the bottom and exit up to the right.
Common mistakes
- A common slip is starting c at the baseline instead of just below the midline, which leaves it looking like an unfinished o.
- With the capital, learners stop the final stroke short instead of carrying it into the next letter; the tail of C is the join.
Joining c to other letters
The c exits from the baseline with a short upstroke that becomes the entry stroke of the next letter.
- c → hbaseline join
