Spaced Text Generator

Effects built from combining marks, mirroring or spacing rather than replacement letters; the most likely to be stripped by apps. Every letter has a form.

What Spaced text is

Spaced looks like the ordinary alphabet with a space between every letter. The letters are plain characters; a space between letters makes the difference, and those extra characters are ordinary symbols. It covers every letter, because the letters themselves are not replaced. Digits stay as typed. The result pastes wherever the base style does, and the extra symbols can be deleted by hand if an app shows them as boxes.

Where Spaced works

People paste Spaced where they want the base style with extra decoration: bios, captions, invitations and messages. It survives wherever the base style does, because the letters are the same characters; the added symbols are ordinary and rarely filtered. Screen readers read the symbols aloud, so the decoration is heard as well as seen.

How to use Spaced

Type your text in the box; Spaced updates as you type, and the related styles at the foot of the page show the same text for comparison. Press Copy on the Spaced card, then paste into the app with a long press on a phone or Ctrl or Cmd and V on a desktop. If the app shows empty boxes, the device has no font for these characters; if the text reverts to plain letters on save, the field filters them, and a different style or an image from the font generator is the way round it.

Styled text uses symbol characters that screen readers announce as symbols.
