tt in Cursive

A cross join between t and t, difficulty 2 of 5.

To join t to t, write both stems as one movement joined at the baseline, then finish the word and draw a single crossbar through both stems at the midline. Two separate bars look busy and add a pen lift.

How a cross join works

Both letters carry a crossbar, so the pair is written as two stems joined at the baseline and one crossbar drawn through both after the word is finished. One bar instead of two keeps the pair tidy and saves a pen lift.

The mistake to watch for

Learners cross each stem separately, or cross before the word is finished, which adds lifts and bumps; write both stems, finish the word, then draw one bar through both.

Practising tt

Write tt on its own a few times, then inside the words below, then in a sentence. This is an easy join: once the first letter is finished properly the second follows without thought, so a single short session is usually enough.
